Abstract:

Purpose: How to use different emotion regulation strategies can be effective in the occurrence of EMOTIONAL DISTRESSes and anxiety caused by spread of various viral diseases such as COVID-19, therefore present study was conducted with aim of investigating the mediating role of EMOTIONAL DISTRESS (stress, anxiety and depression) in relationship between adaptive and maladaptive strategies of cognitive emotion regulation with corona anxiety. Methods: This research was a descriptive study using the correlation method. The statistical population of this research was all university students and graduates of Science, Research and Technology Ministry living in Tehran. From this statistical population, 442 samples were selected during peak of Omicron strain of coronavirus From beginning of July 2022 to end of April 2023 using convenience sampling method. The tools used in this research were Garnevsky's Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (2002), DASS-21 Anxiety, Stress, Depression Questionnaire (1995), Alipour et al.'s Corona Disease Anxiety Questionnaire (2020). This research was conducted in form of statistical analysis of Structural Equations Model  using SPSS version 25 and AMOS version 24 softwares. Results: The present study results showed direct effect of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies on EMOTIONAL DISTRESS (β=-0.333, P<0.001), maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies on EMOTIONAL DISTRESS (β=0.501, P<0.001), EMOTIONAL DISTRESS on corona anxiety (β=0.407, P<0.001) is significant at α=0.05 level. Also, significance of indirect effect of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies on corona anxiety (β=-0.136, P=0.009), maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies on corona anxiety (β=0.204, P=0.016) with mediation of EMOTIONAL DISTRESS was confirmed at α=0.05 level. Conclusion: According to the results of present research, emotion regulation strategies can be used in psychotherapy guidelines with aim of reducing people's EMOTIONAL DISTRESS and finally, preventing and dealing with anxiety caused by coronavirus and even other infectious diseases that may spread in future and cause anxiety like COVID-19.

Abstract:

Background: Cancer has been known as a class of dangerous diseases which cause tremendous physical and EMOTIONAL problems to both patients and their families. In spite of medical advances, cancer is still considered to be equal with death and pain. This study aims to analyze the EMOTIONAL DISTRESS and the causes in breast cancer patients. Methods: This study was a quantitative study which tries to analyze the EMOTIONAL DISTRESS in 82 breast cancer patients referred to the Radiotherapy and Oncology Department of Razi Hospital in Rasht, northern Iran. In this study, the EMOTIONAL DISTRESS is analyzed based on a standard questionnaire which contains demographic information, DISTRESS thermometer, and a section devoted to the probable causes. Results: Among the 82 patients that participated in this study, 32 patients (39%) suffered from severe EMOTIONAL DISTRESS which had a statistically significant relationship (p<0.009) with the functional status of the patients. Taking care of children, fear, anxiety, difficulties of taking bath and wearing clothes, family problems, fever and nasal dryness are the most common issued related to EMOTIONAL DISTRESS.Conclusion: EMOTIONAL DISTRESS can affect the quality of life of breast cancer patients. Therefore, oncology specialists should utilize mental health services to improve their patients’ mental health as well as to control the consequences of the disease.

Abstract:

Objective: The purpose of this study was effectiveness of Gross emotion regulation model on EMOTIONAL DISTRESS and EMOTIONAL eating behavior on overweight female students of Islamic Azad University of Karaj.Method: undergraduate female students of Islamic Azad University In 1395, considering the inclusion criteria, 40 patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. In order to determine the level of EMOTIONAL DISTRESS Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) With an overall scale and its six subscales were used. Then Gross emotion regulation model, during the eight sessions of 90 minutes was applied to the experimental group. Data from pre-test and post-test experimental and control groups, were analyzed at a significance level 0.05.Results: Analysis of covariance showed Gross emotion regulation model on EMOTIONAL DISTRESS and its six subscales and EMOTIONAL eating behavior of overeating female students of Islamic Azad University of Karaj is effective. The difference between the two groups at post-test, a statistically significant difference. p<0.005.Conclusion: after Intervention program, a significant reduction in EMOTIONAL DISTRESS and eating behavior due to emotion regulation in the experimental group than the control group were observed. These findings suggest that the way in which emotions are set on eating behavior by reducing EMOTIONAL DISTRESS is effective.

Abstract:

Objectives: The goal of this study was modeling EMOTIONAL disorders based on fear and DISTRESS factors in non-clinical Iranian population. Method: In this study which was based on structural equation modeling plan, 800 undergraduate students from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences were selected by a multi-level clustering method, and were asked to complete Albany Panic and Phobia Questionnaire (APPQ), Phobic Stimuli Response Scale (PSRS), Social Phobia Inventory (SPI), 4th edition of GAD Questionnaire (GADQ-IV), General Behavior Inventory (GBI), and second edition of Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II). Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results: The results showed that symptoms of panic, agoraphobia, social and specific phobia disorders loaded on fear factor and DISTRESS consisted of depression, dysthymia and generalized anxiety. This finding proved stability and repetition of internalization spectrum disorder modeling based on both fear and DISTRESS factors. Conclusion: Although, these findings were congruent with previous research performed in western societies, making conclusion about reliability and universality of two-factor structure of internalization spectrum disorders, in general, and specifically its reliability in Iranian society, require further studies.
